CHARLES DICKENS PLAQUE UNVEILED

Two hundred years since the birth of the writer Charles Dickens, his connection with a Suffolk market town has officially been recognised at the hotel where he stayed.

SISTER HOTEL, THE SALTHOUSE WINS BEST LARGE HOTEL AWARD

The Salthouse Harbour Hotel were delighted to win the category 'Best Large Hotel' at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2010, held at The West Wing, Ickworth on Thursday 4th November.

The Enjoy England Awards for Excellence are recognised as the premier awards for the tourism industry.  The regional awards highlight the quality of the tourism industry in the eastern region (Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk).

WINE TRIP TO CHAMPAGNE, CHABLIS & BURGUNDY

Early summer 2011 saw eight of the team from both hotels travel to France to visit Champagne, Chablis and Burgundy.  Travelling by Eurostar we were ably navigated out of Paris by our driver Peter.  Once out of the city we headed for Troyes and Deveaux Champagne, they produce our house champagne. The highlight of this visit was being able to taste 2 different Pinot Noir wines and a Chardonnay which will be blended together to create our champagne.  It was helpful to smell and taste the different characteristics of champagne in each wine before they are blended together to create the finished product.
